Tanner Peterson, Mental Health Practitioner (he/him)
Tanner is a Clinical Mental Health Trainee at Maplewood Psychology and enjoys working with adolescents and young adults. He has experience in helping clients navigate concerns such as anxiety, depression, social fears, relationship concerns, life transitions, among many other life experiences. Tanner stems from a person-centered approach and uses a compassionate approach to ensure safety and allowing clients to feel heard in their joys, troubles, and everything in-between.
Tanner attended Concordia University, St. Paul for his undergraduate degree in Sport Psychology. From Concordia University, Tanner attended Minnesota State University, Mankato where he earned his Master of Arts in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Additionally, Tanner earned a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling. While at MSU, he worked with athlete populations in enhancing mindset, and interned at Counseling Services of Southern Minnesota.
Tanner is currently pursuing fulfilling the requirements to become a Certified Mental Performance Consultant by the Association of Applied Sport Psychology. In addition to his general mental health training for adolescents and young adults, a main focus in Tanner’s clinical practice is working with athletes and performers. Tanner believes a healthy mind can allow individuals and athletes to perform at their best.
